Liver Torsion - Linked To Bloat???

Re: Liver Torsion - Linked To Bloat???

I've just spoken to the vet & the news isn't great! :( Vinnie's temperature is still high. His liver function tests show that the liver is not coping, this now points more towards liver disease & not just the liver recovering from surgery. To diagnose the type of liver disease would mean keyhole surgery & the vet only wants do this as a last resort! He also mentioned that there is a slim chance that Vinnie could have had a severe reaction to the Phenobarbitone & that it may be the root of all this, but that is rare?
There is an infection somewhere in his body but it's hard to find! They are doing urine & bile acid tests overnight to check the liver readings again & test for kidney infection. The infection could be in the joints so that is another place they will check.
His heart looked fine, it did show a leaky valve on the left of his heart, but thankfully no infection there!
Chest & lumbar spine show signs of arthritis!!!
I am trying to avoid talking to some people I know, as they say that maybe I should be thinking of letting him go!!!
I hope they can find the infection & Vinnie can start to recover!!!
Run Free Vinnie!!! 29.01.2004 - 15.02.2010.
There's a hole in my heart where Vinnie has passed through,

Thanks for the update. I'd hang in there for now. I think he still has a chance. Is he actually on antibiotics of any kind? You may have mentioned this earlier and I missed it. It certainly is a puzzle but I hope they can come up with the cause and treat it.

I'd still want to talk to someone else with other ideas like Chris Day. Your choice though. Drug reactions happen more often than allopathic vets are willing to admit.

I know you don't want me to send Reiki, but out of curiosity I just got his picture up to see and he wants it, so I don't think HE is ready to leave. So presumably if you can get him the right treatment he'll be ok. Is he still being given Pheno and/or any other drugs? ok, you just answered that, he could be reacting badly to the antibiotics, it happens.

Have just spent the last 25 minutes sending to him - he is SOAKING it up. He is probably out for the count or will be soon and will also probably want a lot extra to drink. Reiki usually causes thirst which helps flush toxins out the sytem, it also encourages sleep which of course allows the body to heal.
